Samantha's Web - Journalism

I am interested in the field of journalism, but I have been focusing on my other talents as of late. I was the Opinions Editor of the University of Miami Online High School's virtual paper, the Virtual Village, in my Junior year. In my Senior year, I was promoted to Editor-in-Chief. I was in charge of 95% of the paper's activities and often had to pick up the slack of my fellow teen journalists, even so far as to taking on the jobs assigned to the copy editor and the photo editor in addition to my duties as EiC. All of this while taking 8 classes and participating in the Creative Writing Club. I was able to take charge of meetings but allow the other staff to work out their differences and state their opinions.

Both during and after my time as the EiC of the Virtual Village, I submitted 7 articles to my local paper, the Polk Voice. All 7 articles were featured in both the print and online publications and one of which appeared on the front page.

In addition to written journalism, I enjoy photo and video journalism. As the daughter of two entrepreneurs in the medical field, I am a very avid crusader of assistance for small businesses and better healthcare for Americans. If  you have a story you would like to share, please contact me.
